6.9.2024 Window Walkabout is the largest art event ever in the Tampere Region, where windows in the city centre serve as the stage for the audience on the streets. As the opening event of the Tampere Festival of Light, it will brighten the dark autumn with a surprising set of beautifully lighted windows starting from 24 October. Free of charge for the audience, Window Walkabout is also the final event of the regional culture development project Operation Pirkanmaa and takes place at several locations. In addition to Tampere, it will cover 19 partner municipalities in October and November, which means that up to 200 lighted art windows can be viewed in the Tampere Region.

29.5.2024 Taking place in 20 municipalities starting from 24th of October, Window Walkabout is the largest art event ever arranged in the Tampere Region (i.e. Pirkanmaa). The series of free art events inside windows will be realised by up to a thousand cultural actors, and it is the culmination point of the three-year a regional culture development project Operation Pirkanmaa.

20.10.2023 Stereo:ID is organising a free series of light events as part of Operation Pirkanmaa during the winter season. During the autumn holiday week 19-24 October 2023, the media and light-art event Projio will be held for the fourth time in the Finlayson area. The cooperation also includes the light art work Circle, which will tour Tampere, Valkeakoski and Ylöjärvi.

11.9.2023 The decisive battles of the Finnish Civil War took place in Tampere in the spring of 1918. For 15 years, visitors could explore the war and these battles in a popular exhibition at the Museum Centre Vapriikki. The exhibition has now closed, but the topic continues as a web page. Innovative virtual content provides historical information in an immersive manner.

24.5.2023 Hop aboard! The Art Express bus will be making pilot tours to the Nuutajärvi Glass Village and to Visavuori Museum and the Voipaala Art Centre in Valkeakoski on four Saturdays in summer 2023. During the summer, there will also be a daily shuttle bus to Serlachius Museums in Mänttä-Vilppula, known as the Art Town.

4.10.2022 The project creates a digital escape game that draws its contents from writers and illustrators from the Pirkanmaa region, their work and home municipalities. The digital game combines a literary-themed online exhibition and escape game-like puzzles in a new way.

4.10.2022 An international freedom of speech event will be held for the first time in Tampere in 2023, after which the event is scheduled to take place every two years. The aim is to promote freedom of speech wherever it is in jeopardy.

4.10.2022 Schoolchildren will build fish, jellyfish, water fleas, crabs or anything living in water from recycled plastics at environmental and art education workshops.

4.10.2022 A guerrilla lighting event will be held in Hiedanranta, Tampere on Wednesday 14 December 2022. The light procession, which is open to all, will last for about an hour, and during it, objects in Hiedanranta will be seen in a completely new light.

4.10.2022 The Meeting of Writers Alive and Dead project will bring to life the successful history of literature from Pirkanmaa, and at the same time, give a voice to present-day authors. The Association Pirkkalaiskirjailijat ry will produce the series of events in honour of the association's 80th anniversary.

4.10.2022 The Word Bridges project will showcase the versatile children’s literature selection and know-how of the twin cities Tampere and Tartu.

4.10.2022 A film screening for each day was planned for the European Capital of Culture year 2026. In Operation Pirkanmaa, the legacy project of the application process, plans were scaled back to a weekly level: in 2023, at least one thematically selected European film or series of films will be shown in the region each week - in other words, at least 52 European films during the year.

4.10.2022 Dance Theatre MD is one of the partners involved in the international two-year Rail2Dance project, which began in September 2022. This year, the partners received Creative Europe funding for the project. The main applicant is the ballet company of the Städtische Theater Chemnitz, and other partners are Plesni Teatr from Ljubljana and Norrlandsopera from Umeå.
